all of my adult life has been spent with this crazy cat.
In honor of my good friend, here are a few Morey memories…
His legendary love for food - Morey had no problem feigning sweetness for the sake of food or beverage – if charm didn’t work, he just took it directly off the plate without invitation
The sound of his small paws walking on our wood floors
His way of taking over the bed – many times I woke up sleeping around my cat- his comfort most important
The wild look in his eyes the first time I saw him – Dad was smiling as he held/restrained Morey – I wondered where the sweet kitten Dad had promised was; this crazy cat surely wasn’t my Christmas gift – I was mistaken
His knack for finding the best seat in the house - soaking up the sun and taking in the view of the great outdoors
His love for Henry and the wild wrestling sessions those two had – it never occurred to me that Morey was lonely for feline companionship until I saw him with Henry
His gift for snuggling – every book, television show, movie, or phone conversation was better with Morey in my lap
His acceptance of my sweet baby Benjamin
His beauty - especially in the sunshine
His love for drinking directly from the bathroom sink
His making biscuits and purring, not much better than this – all is forgiven
His devotion – staying up late while I worked on school work or getting up early while I got ready for work – Morey was always around (I’ll even miss having to step around him from the shower each morning as he lay on my bathmat)

time on the table
In his final days, Morey got to enjoy hanging out in our backyard and greeting visitors. For all his anti-social behaviors, Morey loved to be with people. He was not a hide under the bed and lay low kind of cat, and I have always admired that about him. Even as he became weaker, he was an important part of our family.
I’m thankful for the lively, wonderful pet God gave me when he sent Morey into my life.
