In Love with February 2011

I’m not often a fan of extremes, but this month has been pleasantly extreme. Mother Nature has put on quite a show for us, and I’ve enjoyed it. The beginning of February greeted us with record low temperatures, icy roads, and beautiful snow. Our family relaxed fireside for five unexpected days off from school. Although I couldn’t live with such conditions long term, I was undeniably giddy to be iced into our little house – eating, sleeping, reading, and watching the tube. Some of my coworkers expressed dismay at being stuck indoors and stranded for so long, not me! I had all I needed with me – well, at least for five days!

Within days of our record low temperatures, the weather warmed and our overgrown, ice-ravaged yard began to show tiny blossoms here and there. We are getting a small, colorful sneak preview of what is to come this spring. I can’t wait to watch the plants grow and change. Tim has his work cut out for him to keep this place looking good.

Until the work begins, it’s nice to sit back and watch the show.
