Last weekend Mom and Dad visited us. We got to spend a relaxing couple of days hanging out, watching t-ball, and celebrating October birthdays. We were very excited to have them here; it seems like it had been a while since they had been to Dallas.
Saturday morning was very chilly, but in Texas, that cold snap was refreshing after so many months of heat. Also, it was impossible to think about the temperature for too long because watching five year olds play t-ball is entertaining stuff. One five year old in particular! Benjamin was beyond thrilled to have his Nana and Poppy among his fan base. He got to put some of the batting pointers Poppy gave him on Friday night to good use!
After the game, we relaxed around the house for a while and some people did a little napping. We did go for a quick walk to show Nana the neighborhood chickens and the butterflies around the corner. Who knew there was so much nature right here on Twin Creek Drive?
Later we had lots of fun at the fall harvest festival at church. The past couple of weeks, Benjamin and I have been passing by the sign in front of the church on the drive to school, so attending the festival was pretty high on Benjamin's list of weekend priorities. I think he had a really good time. The weather had warmed up a little which made it pretty perfect.
We finished off Saturday with some delicious food (Tim grilled steaks!) and a double birthday celebration. Mom and Val had fun wishing one another happy birthday and we all had fun watching them and eating cake.
It was a quick visit but a really nice one. Family time always seems to make the clock tick a little faster and last weekend was no exception. I'm so grateful they made the trip. And thanks to Dad for being the official photographer of the weekend.
