Lovin' Summer

Tonight was Popsicles at the Playground at Lakewood, Benjamin's first official kindergarten event. It has been a fun summer, and it's not quite over yet, but it is beginning to wind down...

July has been especially busy. We took a road trip to west Texas where we got to visit the Davis Mountains, see the Midland side of the family, and attend a friend's wedding. Then we came home just long enough to do laundry and we left for Alabama. There we got to spend a week with the Pattillo family and enjoy lots of outdoor time, especially on the ocean. Finally, we spent one last weekend away on Lake LBJ. It is such a gorgeous place, and we had lots of fun. Now August is upon us and we're looking forward to doing some things around the house, including getting Benjamin a new bed (he sleeps diagonally in this little bed). I'm trying to get into the school spirit by shifting my reading list with school in mind...

Looking forward, on August 26, our sweet Banjo boy will begin kindergarten. It's a bit unreal.

Five

Today we celebrated five wonderful years with Benjamin Felix. He had a great day with his family.

Baby Steps

"I'm sorry, Max. I'm sorry that I have to go to my new school," I heard Benjamin say to his buddy Max as we started to say our goodbyes today. Thursday was Benjamin's last full day at Baby Steps (as a regular) and today we stopped in for a little while to celebrate. I could see Benjamin struggle to keep back his tears as he said goodbye. As always, the next step is exciting and sad all in one.

I cannot believe that it is time to leave the place and the people that truly watched Banjo's baby steps become giant leaps. We are so grateful for the love they have shown him for the last five years.

We may be feeling a little sad today, but we can't wait to see where Benjamin's next steps will lead.
