Home

It’s been a long time.

Since I last wrote, we went on a family vacation to the visit the Pattillo home in Alabama. That was July – seems like ages ago. We had a great time soaking up the sun, spending a day at the beach, and enjoying being with family.

We returned home to Dallas and prepared to begin a new school year. Back to daycare, back to work, back to real life. Amid the preparation, we made a final road trip to Midland to visit the Wootan family before the madness of school began.

Then almost simultaneously we found a leaser for our condo, and after a long journey, we bought a house. It was time to pack up and move from the condo.

Leaving five and half years of memories was difficult, but the promise of a new house with a backyard eased the heartache a bit.

So, lately, we’ve been busy making 9713 Twin Creek feel like our home. With the help of family and friends, we’re getting there.

Last weekend, we visited another former home of mine – McMurry University. This was Benjamin’s first homecoming experience. To see Benjamin strolling (running, hopping, sliding) through such familiar places was pretty cool. To see him interacting with my longtime friends was even better.

I hope to always feel at home at here.

After thirty-six years and many moves, I have been reminded again of what makes a place a home.
